University of South Alabama – Visiting Students Diversity Scholarship

The Department of Surgery at the University of South Alabama (USA) is proud to announce a Visiting Students Diversity Scholarship. The mission of this program is to expose medical students underrepresented in medicine (URM) to the General Surgery training program at USA. Our goal is to increase the diversity of our trainees and the field of General Surgery as a whole.
The program will provide a $1,500 stipend towards travel, food, and housing. The successful applicant will be matched with a resident mentor, two faculty mentors have one-on-one advisement with the General Surgery Program Director, have networking opportunities with faculty, residents and students invested in their success and dinner with General Surgery residency leadership and residents. The successful applicant will be invited to interview for a General Surgery residency position.
