2013 – 2014

  • Aouod Agenor, Class of 2017, The Carl F. and Gerty T. Cori Prize in Biochemistry (for demonstrated superior scholarship in Biochemistry).
  • Lawrence Benjamin, Class of 2016, and Rahel Ghenbot, Class of 2015, The Dr. Frank O. Richards Medical Student Scholarship Prize (awarded to Minority Scholarship recipients in recognition of their achievements in the first and second years of the curriculum).
  • Elaine Khoong, AOA, Class of 2014, The Steven Dresler Prize (for demonstrated commitment to promoting social good, civil rights and civil liberties through social action and volunteerism); The Rosalind Kornfeld Student Leadership Award (presented to a woman in the graduating class who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in service to or advancement of women in the community); The Wynder Prize for Preventive Medicine (awarded to senior medical students who have done the best research in preventive medicine).
  • Philip Perez, AOA, Class of 2014, The Doctor Helen E. Nash Academic Achievement Award (given in honor of Dr. Helen Nash, a pediatrician noted in the St. Louis community for her commitment to excellence, tireless advocacy on behalf of children and endless enthusiasm for the field of medicine); The Hermann Prize (awarded in recognition of a student who is considered a thoughtful and sensitive communicator in the clinical arena and whose listening and communication skills every patient hopes their physician will possess); Alpha Omega Alpha Book Prize (awarded to a member of the graduating class who has performed outstandingly for the entire course of medical study).

2012 – 2013

  • Guillermo Ares, Class of 2013, The Ruth Bebermeyer Award (honors her many years of service to the Alumni Association and to the students of the School of Medicine. It is awarded to students who have shown extraordinary kindness and sensitivity to the needs of others).
  • Ignacio Becerra-Licha, Class of 2013, The Herrmann Prize (in recognition of a student who is considered a thoughtful and sensitive communicator in the clinical arena and whose listening and communication skills every patient hopes their physician will possess).
  • Leisha Elmore, Class of 2013, Dr. Richard S. Brookings Medical School Prize (for meritorious research in medical school) and the Samson F. Wennerman Prize in Surgery (awarded annually to a fourth-year student who has demonstrated promise in the field of surgery).
  • Rahel Ghenbot, Class of 2015, Uzoh Ikpeama, Class of 2015 and Philip Perez, Class of 2014, The Dr. Frank O. Richards Medical Student Scholarship Prizes, (awarded to Minority Scholarship recipients in recognition of their achievements in the first and second years of the curriculum).
  • Michelle Jose-Kampfner, AOA, Class of 2013, The Dr. William A. Rubenstein Award in Medicine (awarded to a 4th year student who shows a serious interest in pursuing a career in internal medicine and who demonstrates exceptional qualities of a gifted physician, including compassion, caring and the pursuit of scientific knowledge).
  • Lauren Martin, Class of 2016, Mound City Medical Forum Scholarship
  • Lincoln Muhoro, MSTP, National Award for the 2013 Script Your Future Medication Adherence Challenge (in collaboration with occupational therapy, physical therapy and St. Louis College of Pharmacy students. This community outreach project’s objective was to engage health profession students and faculty in coming up with creative solutions to raise awareness about medication adherence as a critical public health issue).
  • Ugochi Okoroafor, Class of 2013, The Park J. White M.D. Prize (for dedication and commitment to the importance of the humanities in medical education); the Doctor Helen E. Nash Academic Achievement Award (the prize is given in honor of Dr. Helen Nash, a pediatrician noted in the St. Louis community for her commitment to excellence, tireless advocacy on behalf of children, and endless enthusiasm for the field of medicine).
