Tufts University School of Medicine – Department of Medicine Visiting Clerkship Program for Students Underrepresented in Medicine

The Visiting Clerkship Program for Students Underrepresented in Medicine is an opportunity for fourth year medical students to explore Internal Medicine rotations at Tufts Medical Center in a number of medical subspecialties. The clerkship includes both acting internship and elective experiences in our prestigious residency program. Students will learn first-hand what it is like to be a resident at our institution and be paired with a faculty mentor. Students will also meet with the residency Program Director to aid in their recruitment and preparation for the interview season.

Program Eligibility 

  • Fourth-year medical students from any accredited U.S. allopathic medical school
  • AAMC defined Underrepresented in Medicine or 1st generation in family to attend four-year college

Program Highlights

  • Pairing with a faculty mentor
  • Personal career counselling from the Internal Medicine Residency Program Director to aid in recruitment and preparation for the interview season
  • Opportunity to meet the Physician-in-Chief and Chair of the Department of Medicine
  • Funding up to $2,000 for reimbursement of travel, housing, and food
