SUMMARY: 2016 Health Professions Fair
DESCRIPTION: The Health Professions Fair provides a forum for high school s
 tudents primarily from the St. Louis public schools to explore various heal
 th related opportunities. Each year approximately 150 students are selected
  by their high school teachers to participate in the fair.

 pproximately 160 students are selected by their teachers to participate in 
 the fair.</p><p>Program outcomes:</p><p>1. Participants will be exposed to 
 a diversity of health career choices\, from medicine\, nursing and allied h
 ealth fields.</p><p>2. Participants will gain a greater understanding of th
 e academic preparation and time commitment needed to succeed in their desir
 ed health career field.</p><p>3. Participants will pursue formal and inform
 al mentoring programs through networking at the Health Professions Fair.</p
 ><p>4. Participants will gain a better understanding of the intersectionali
 ty of health professions and the benefits of interprofessional education.</
 p><p>"I went to the Health Professions Fair and really enjoyed the panel di
 scussion on addictive behaviors! It was very insightful to hear the opinion
 s from my peers and interesting facts from doctors on a topic that many you
 ng adults have questions about. I believe that this was a very successful f
 air and resulted in making my interest in patient-doctor relationships grow
