University of Virginia (UVA) – Visiting Program in Gastroenterology & Hepatology

This program is established through a grant from the Jefferson Trust to increase the opportunities for students/residents from a diverse background to experience different aspects of the GI/Hepatology training program at UVA. This program will be a 2 week observation rotation with time dedicated to inpatient rounds, ambulatory clinic, endoscopy, and the opportunity to establish a research project with faculty. All scholars will have the opportunity to meet with the program director prior to their departure. All travel and lodging expenses will be paid for by the program.
The UVA-VS is open only to student/residents who are US citizens and from LCME accredited schools or ACGME residency programs. Candidates will be evaluated based on their academic performance and vision statements on what they hope to garner from the program. Applicants should be limited to those groups that are recognized as historically underrepresented in the health and science professions including: Black/African American, American Indian, Alaska Native, Hispanic/Latino and Pacific Islander.
