Prisma Health-University of South Carolina Family Medicine – Diversity in Medicine Visiting Student Clerkship

The Prisma Health-University of South Carolina Department of Family Medicine is offering a 4-week visiting clerkship/award from November to January to full-time fourth year medical students in good standing at accredited U.S. medical schools. These four weeks will consist of inpatient and outpatient experiences, along with community experiences that may include working with non-profits, schools, or community health navigators. Competitive applicants will have demonstrated personal experience or interest in diversity, health disparities, or serving underrepresented populations. The program will provide a stipend of $750 to each award recipient. Housing options will be provided. All welcome to apply. Preference for the rotation are students of a racial or ethnic minority that is underrepresented in medicine: Black/African American, Latino, Native American/Alaskan, Pacific Islander, Filipino, Hmong, or Vietnamese.

The Prisma Health-University of South Carolina Department of Family Medicine is home to our family medicine residency program, where we have graduated over 300 family physicians that have gone on to serve the greater community. With our practice located in the heart of the city, we are minutes way from
the Columbia Fireflies stadium, the Vista, the Congaree River, and the Riverbanks Zoo.
