The George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences (GW SMHS) – Visiting Clerkship Program

The Visiting Clerkship Program sponsored by the GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences Office of Diversity and Inclusion (VCP-ODI), in collaboration with the GW Medical Faculty Associates, provides support for fourth-year medical students with an interest in health equity, diversity, and inclusion to participate in a variety of 4-week visiting clerkships. This opportunity enhances students’ exposure to careers in academic medicine and recruits students with
an interest in the care of the under-served.

Eligibility requirements:

  • All fourth-year medical students in good standing at accredited US or Canadian medical schools
  • Students must have completed all core clerkships, including Medicine,Surgery, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Obstetrics/Gynecology, and Primary Care/Family Medicine
  • Students must have successfully passed USMLE Step 1

All participants will receive a $1,000 stipend toward travel and housing. To learn more about available clerkships and application process, please visit
