Deadline: May 28, 2021
The Sidney Kimmel Medical College has built an unparalleled reputation for reimagining the way we educate tomorrow’s healthcare leaders.
The Visiting Student Diversity Scholarship supports rising 4th year medical students from other medical colleges who wish to do surgical sub-internships within Jefferson’s Department of Surgery.
We encourage fourth-year Underrepresented Minority (URM) Medical Students to apply to explore an interest in academic surgery.
Program Description:
The Program will provide accepted “Acting Intern” students with a four-week rotation at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia for the months of August, Sptember or October in General Surgery or any of its subspecialties. The chosen applicants will function in the role of an intern and will be required to attend all conferences including:
- core curriculum,
- morbidity and mortality conference,
- rotation-based clinical case conferences, and
- simulation lab experiences with surgical residents
Up to $1500 of expense reimbursements will be provided to help to defray the cost of transportation, fees, and housing expenses.
